On Jan. 25, 2022 the Shelby County Schools Board will be voting on the plan to merge Maxine Smith STEAM Academy (MSSA) with East High School in August 2022. After participating in a few community meetings and having conversations with numerous parents, students, and teachers, the East PTO believes a delay will give both schools the best opportunity to thrive in an already extremely challenging time.  

We have created this letter writing campaign for our community to encourage stakeholders to share their concerns about this timeline. If you would like to see this merger delayed until August 2023, please  join us in this easy way to email all school board commissioners before the January 25th vote!

In addition to sending these emails, we also invite you to show up at the School Board meeting on January 25th at 5:30pm in your East or MSSA gear!
