Demand CCNY [City College] Provide Students with Prayer Space

City College [CCNY] refuses to provide students with an adequate and appropriate space for religious activities. The CCNY administration has displaced the interfaith space on campus for several years and has been dismissive to students' demands for an interfaith space. Despite several pleas from students, the CCNY administration has failed to provide students with an adequate space for prayer and other interfaith activities.

Muslim students at CCNY are disproportional impacted by the administration's decision to disregard the religious rights of its students. Muslims have to pray 5 times a day and there is a significant Muslim population at CCNY. Reports indicate that CCNY may have the largest concentration of Muslim students at any large CUNY campus. Despite the high number of Muslim students, CCNY has forced its Muslim students to pray in small, inaccessible areas on campus. As a result, students feel the administration is not providing an appropriate space because CCNY does not value its Muslim students. No matter how many overtures the students make, CCNY administrators always have an excuse for their inaction.

It's time you told them that their failure to respect students' religious practices will not be tolerated anymore. Demand that CCNY provide students with an adequate and appropriate interfaith space so that all students can freely practice their faith.
