Demand Democracy for All: No Democracy With Apartheid

Over the last few months, massive numbers of Israelis have taken to the streets carrying signs about democracy, protesting Benjamin Netanyahu’s attempts to consolidate power. A small but growing group of these protesters are declaring: there cannot be true democracy in an apartheid system. And they’re putting forth a vision for genuine equality and justice for all.
If this moment is going to bring real change, we as American Jews need to act.
Yesterday, President Biden spoke out against Netanyahu for the first time. Less than 24 hours later, Jamaal Bowman and Bernie Sanders called on the Biden administration to turn words into action and investigate Israel’s use of US weapons against Palestinians.
President Biden made clear that he spoke out because he’s been listening to American Jews.
We need to tell him that American Jews want more than a slap on the wrist for Netanyahu: we want democracy for all people – which means an end to occupation and apartheid.
For too long, the U.S. has enabled and funded the oppression of Palestinians in Israel. American Jews are saying: enough. It’s time for accountability.
Tell your Member of Congress: American Jews support democracy for all, not occupation and apartheid. It’s time for our representatives to join Jamaal Bowman and Bernie in calling on Biden to turn words into action.
