The nearly 800 Food Service and Building Service Workers, members of SEIU Local 73, at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign are planning to go on strike.

These essential workers are the heart of the University. They cook the food for the students living in the dorms. They clean the buildings on campus. They deserve to be paid a living wage for their work and to be treated with dignity.

Despite their vital role on campus, these workers are substantially underpaid. We must come together to demand living wages for Building Service and Food Service Workers at UIUC.
