Early Learning Budget and Policy Updates – Some Good News!

Your voices were heard, and they made a difference!

Governor Wolf and the General Assembly finalized the state budget, continuing to level fund pre-k, child care and home visiting through the remainder of the FY 20-21.

In addition, OCDEL amended the recently reinstated subsidy policy to better support child care providers who experience a closure or absences related to the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) while the Proclamation of Disaster Emergency remains in effect. Starting Nov. 1 this policy allows payments to be made based on current enrollment rather than attendance. It also provides for payment during program and classroom closures and child absences related to COVID-19.

While our fight is not over, we want you to join us in thanking Governor Wolf and the General Assembly for maintaining state funding for child care, pre-k and home visiting line items in the final 2020-21 state budget!
