End suspensions of 4, 5, 6, and 7-year old children
Suspensions don't improve student behavior or school climate. Children who are suspended are more likely to make poor academic progress, be absent from school, not graduate on time, and drop out of school. There are effective alternatives to suspensions, such as restorative justice practices. It is time for the New Hanover County Board of Education to end suspensions for 4, 5, 6, and 7-year old children.
