Star-Telegram staff should not have to pay to work

The Fort Worth NewsGuild needs you!

How would you feel paying $3,000 per year to park at work– on top of rising gas costs and inflation? What if your employer refused to pay you more to offset the added expense?

That’s the situation we, reporters at the Star-Telegram, find ourselves in. We pay hundreds of dollars a month to park at work. Corporate management has frozen raises for unionized employees and repeatedly insisted that we pay $15 a day to park at the office.

Raising our costs while keeping our wages stagnant is a blatant attack on our newsroom’s fight for better working conditions. The increased expense keeps many reporters exiled from the collaboration, mental health benefits and flexibility to work from our own office.

Join us in telling McClatchy: No one should have to pay to work!

Strength in solidarity,
