Essential Pay for Patient Navigators!

Patient Navigators at the University of California (UC)--workers who perform essential work related to patient care--recently joined Teamsters Local 2010 and are currently negotiating their compensation with the UC. Patient Navigators perform critical support in hospitals and clinics and have kept UC hospitals and health centers running, especially during COVID, by continuing to provide and support quality patient care. We work around the clock to provide exemplary service, upholding UC’s worldwide ranking in healthcare, cutting edge research, and higher education.

Our Teamsters Bargaining Unit workers are more than 67% women and over 62% people of color, and we have been bargaining wages, step placement, shift differential pay and incentive plan rights with the UC since November 2022, but we are no closer to labor peace with the UC.  Especially with low pay proposals from Davis, San Francisco, San Diego, Irvine and Riverside that are not representative of the value of our work, dedication, and years of service.

Please send an emailed letter to UC medical center CEOs and managers demanding that they instruct their UC bargaining team to offer fair proposals that include essential pay for our work. Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts.
