Governor Carney and his leadership team deserve public recognition and thanks for launching efforts over the last week to meet the needs of our homeless Delawarean neighbors in the face of the coronavirus.

Recognizing that homeless people cannot by themselves comply with the governor’s stay-at-home order, the state has been deploying people and resources to identify homeless people who are most at-risk and providing them with immediate access to housing, food, an medical services.

While an important start, it is critical that these efforts be continued and expanded.

We urge you to take immediate action to put in place the resources necessary to ensure that every homeless person in the state has access to temporary emergency housing, along with access to food and medical care, until the coronavirus crisis is over.
