Get ready for a fight, Arizona

Arizona is on the brink of an all-out war over anti-immigrant proposals that critics are likening to the infamous Senate Bill 1070 that tainted the state as racist.  House Bill 2598 would require local authorities to detain – at federal request – a person suspected of being undocumented until immigration agents pick them up for deportation proceedings.

All local public agencies would be required to work with ICE in all instances, unless the action would impede a law enforcement investigation. This means ICE and local police could expand to detaining immigrants at hospitals, courthouses, schools (from preschools to college campuses), and places of worship.
