Hit the brakes on SUVs! Tell your MP to act.

We've all noticed that cars are getting bigger, and in 2024 more than three out of every five new cars sold were sports utility vehicles (SUVs).
Fueled by misleading advertising, SUVs are seen as safe family vehicles, or glitzy status symbols. In reality, they are dangerous, polluting and clog up road space that could otherwise be used for active travel, public transport, or trees, nature and community spaces.
Badvertising is a founding member of the SUV Alliance, a coalition of organisations working to stop the arms race towards ever bigger, ever heavier SUVs.
And we're taking our message to Parliament.
On 26th March 2025, we're hosting a launch event for the SUV Alliance and our 5-point manifesto for safer, fairer streets, in the House of Lords. This is our chance to make the case to MPs and Peers that SUVs have no place on our streets.
We need your help.
We need you to write to your MP asking them to take action against large SUVs. This includes
- Attending the SUV Alliance launch event on March 26th
- Endorsing the SUV Alliance manifesto and its policy asks
There has been almost no political action on this issue in 20 years. That changes now.
Without action, three-quarters of new cars could be SUVs by 2027, taking the UK on the same trajectory as the US, where SUVs drove up road fatalities 18% between 2019 and 2022.
Click through to use our letter template to write to your MP today and let's hit the brakes on SUVs.
