Pass the I AM Bill this session!

The MA Menstrual Equity Coalition has been fighting since 2019 to pass the I AM bill, a bill that would ensure menstrual products - a basic human right - are provided for free in prisons and jails, shelters and schools across Massachusetts. In December 2021 the bill was reported favorably out of the Joint Public Health Committee and has now moved to the Senate Ways and Means Committee.

Please join us in writing your State Senator and Representative and
urge them to push for the I AM bill to be passed this session!

Since the I AM bill was introduced, sixteen states have passed legislation to increase access to menstrual products, five states that have passed legislation to provide free menstrual products in prisons and Illinois passed legislation to provide free menstrual products in shelters. Passing and implementing this legislation is possible and necessary because we have seen it done in cities and towns across Massachusetts. Cambridge Public Schools started their pilot program in 2016 and since then Somerville, Brookline, Boston & most recently Fall River Public Schools have followed suit.

If you believe that no one should have to choose between food,
a roof over their head, their education, and access to menstrual products
