JOIN THE FIGHT FOR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE IN FORT WORTH!

Fort Worth Environmental Coalition of Communities (FWECC), a collaboration of environmental and social justice organizations including Echo Heights/Stop Six Environmental Coalition, Northside Fort Worth Air, and other neighborhood associations, are advocating the City of Fort Worth to ensure Environmental Justice is considered in everything it does. We need your help getting the City Council’s attention.

Currently the council is developing the Fort Worth 2050 Comprehensive Plan, and no mention of Environmental Justice is made. Requests from FWECC to the City Council to meet with our community regarding this issue have gone unanswered. If the Comprehensive Plan is truly a plan developed with community engagement, then why would the city deny their constituents the ability to influence the plan?

Over the past few months, member groups of FWECC, with the organizations listed below, have requested that City Councilmembers and City Staff host a town hall focused on ensuring that environmental justice protections are part of Fort Worth’s 2050 Comprehensive Plan. No action has been taken to meet the public’s requests for a meeting by anyone listed in the initial request.

Join us in demanding the City council schedule and co-host a public meeting explaining how the comprehensive plan can serve the goals of environmental justice across the city. We view this planning process as building on the progress of the last year. Our work has helped separate industrial land uses from neighborhoods especially in the Echo Heights and Northside communities. We will continue advocating to help and extend that progress to other parts of the city.

Please consider signing our petition and sending a letter to the city council and city staff, including City Manager David Cooke urging them to act.

We will not be ignored and will continue our fight for environmental justice in Fort Worth!

Thank you for joining us!
