Please ask your elected officials to support SD1492/HD3699, An Act Enhancing Justice for Families Harmed by Lead, filed by Senator Jehlen and Representative Leboeuf.

This bill will make it easier to sue the root cause of the lead poisoning problem - the makers of products that we use, who chose to put lead into the product without taking responsibility for preventing the harm that a reasonable person would foresee happening from use of those products. Only one suit has succeeded in holding paint manufacturers responsible but this victory will only benefit some parts of California, and it will not provide any compensation to those who have been harmed. We cannot let these irresponsible manufacturers get away with this behavior. This bill can serve as an example of what a state can do to foster that needed evolution.
