For the last two years, the North Plainfield Education Association (NPEA) has been fighting for the removal of a gym floor containing mercury. Despite the NPEA’s repeated requests and fierce advocacy, not to mention ongoing warnings and testimony from the Work Environment Council (WEC), the North Plainfield Board of Education and administration have been dragging their feet and dodging any accountability for this mess. To add insult to injury, there has been a pervasive and ongoing mismanagement of facilities, equipment and overall district responsibilities throughout.  Enough is enough!

Email the North Plainfield Board of Education. Demand they take immediate action to remove the mercury-laden floor and hold the administration accountable for their failure to act. Urge the Board to work with the NPEA to create a proactive plan to keep North Plainfield’s students and staff safe and healthy.
