LA County Board of Supervisors: Support Working Families, Do Not Postpone the Upcoming Minimum Wage Increase

The idea that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay is fundamental to our movement, and the $15 minimum wage is a watershed moment in the struggle for workers’ rights.

Five years ago, labor unions, community groups, legislators, and the people of Los Angeles came together to pass one of the most economically progressive policies in the nation, a $15 minimum wage for the entire county by July 1, 2020.   What was once called unrealistic was now a reality, helping hundreds of thousands of Angelenos to get out of poverty.

But business interests are taking advantage of the current crises and working to stop the wage increase that hundreds of thousands of working families have been expecting. In this time of economic turmoil, we need to reignite the economy through high levels of spending which can only be done by putting money in the pockets of working families.

We need you to tell the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to not postpone the planned minimum wage increase. Now more than ever, the working families of Los Angeles need the wage increase they have been counting on.
