Let your legislators know that you support campaign finance reform

A strong democracy requires transparency and accountability to voters. Our Virginia General Assembly gets an F on this during the current General Assembly, not allowing many of the key common sense campaign finance bills to get a vote, with one bill on campaign finance limits not even discussed! Let's tell our legislators that this is unacceptable to all voters, irrespective of political party.

Currently Virginia is ranked 46 out of 50 states in the 2020 Coalition for Integrity's SWAMP Index which measures transparency and accountability to voters. By passing campaign finance laws, that ranking would change. Meanwhile, federally, 50 years of Supreme Court rulings, culminating in the 2010 Citizens United ruling, have unleashed a flood of money into our elections from corporations and special interests which has stiffled the voice of average voters.

Let's all take easy action. How, you ask? We can send a message to our elected officials in Richmond and Congress. Tell them that you are disappointed that campaign finance bills aren't being passed federally and in Richmond. Worse, in the last General Assembly, some of them didn't get a vote or weren't even allowed to heard by committee. We can also ask them to sign onto a letter supporting an amendment to the U.S. Constitution which allows the states and Congress to regulate election spending. Let's get Virginia on board with 21 other states who support the "For Our Freedom" constitutional amendment! Don't worry about the Captcha image request! The letters go anyway!

Why is this letter-writing platform important? Your elected officials might not listen to just one or two of us alone, but together we are stronger. We need your voices!!

Fill in your information on the right side of the screen, a sample letter will be provided. The targeted legislators will be listed.
