Light Rail for All

Despite strong and sustained support from voters there is no long term plan for citywide Link expansion at any level of government. Long term planning is essential because choices are being made now that will make future expansion difficult or impossible.

The good news is that there is still time to get us back on track. The city can complete a citywide Link plan, for the first time, as part of the next Transit Master Plan. The state can advance legislation similar to HB 1304 from last session to give Seattle the option to choose to speed up Link expansion for ourselves.

Seattle has so many reasons to demand more. After ST3 is completed, over 56% of Seattle's dense urban villages will still not be connected to the system. Climate change is accelerating and transportation emissions are our number one local source of greenhouse gas emissions. Link expansion is a way to accelerate our move away from car dependence and towards fast, safe, climate friendly trips around our city.

Recent polling by Change Research confirms that 76% of you already agree with us that speeding up Link expansion is essential. Now we just need to get your representatives on board to take the steps necessary to make it happen.
