After the New Bedford City Council voted not to approve Mayor Mitchell's appointment of Mr. Jack Livramento to the Greater New Bedford Voc-Tech School Committee (GNBVT SC), we are asking the Mayor to break from the questionable historic practice of appointing a member of the New Bedford Public School Committee to serve on the GNBVT SC. We ask the mayor to open the appointment process to the community so that a representative pool of qualified applicants versed in public education have a fair chance.
