MD: Stop Classifying Dirty Energy Sources As "Renewable"!

Currently, numerous types of dirty energy are inappropriately classified as Tier 1 renewable energy in Maryland. This includes energy derived from methane, poultry litter-to-energy, burning trash, and more. These energy sources negatively impact our environment and the climate and send jobs out of state, yet they're being used to calculate subsidies and how well we're shifting to renewable energy.

This is a gift for corporate polluters and the result of intensive corporate lobbying, which is now ongoing to prevent the passage of HB 11. The Reclaim Renewable Energy Act of 2022 will prevent dirty energy sources like these from being included in our renewable energy portfolio standard. Please urge your state-level representatives to pass this bill now. It's time to choose people over corporate polluters.
