Tell your lawmaker to vote "no" on pension busting bills

Please take action to stop these measures from becoming law.

SB 152 (Bettencourt) would allow cities to vote on changing retirement benefits for public employees. Defined Benefit plans can be changed to Defined Contribution plans under this bill by voters. SB 1752 (Bettencourt) would do the same thing but only apply to new hires. This would still affect current employees and retirees by allowing their pension funds to run out of money before all promised benefits are paid.

Urge your lawmakers to vote "no" on these bills.

If any of these bills become law, public employees all over the state will fall victim to the whims of voters who do not know how defined benefit pensions work. And real people’s retirement futures will suffer. After years of paying into the system, promised benefits could be ripped out from under first responders and other city employees. These pensions are part of a guaranteed pay package.
