No school vouchers for Illinois

After vetoing a school funding bill that would repair Illinois' inequitable state funding formula, Governor Rauner now wants to include $100M for school vouchers in his version of the school funding bill. This would siphon off $100 million from our already underfunded public school system in Illinois by incentivizing businesses and individuals to pay for scholarships to get tax write-offs—destroying the public good in the process.

The Illinois General Assembly must override Rauner's veto and must refuse to accept any "compromise" which diverts public dollars away from public schools for private gain via vouchers and voucher-schemes like scholarship tax credits.

Governor Rauner is holding all the public schools in the state hostage to further his extreme anti-public school agenda.

Public schools in Illinois need more funding, not less; public dollars are for public goods.

Take a minute to use this form to email your state representative and state senator, asking them to override the governor's veto of SB1 and oppose the establishment of any voucher schemes in Illinois.
