Communities Foundation of Texas, which runs North Texas Giving Day, has pledged a $10 million donation towards a militarized police compound to be built on the UNT Dallas campus in a majority Black and brown community. We have also recently discovered that North Texas Giving Day includes support for police organizations and organizations supporting the occupation and genocide in Palestine. We ask that the funds going towards the regional police training facility and police and zionist organizations be reallocated towards funding grassroots community organizations that are invested in education, healthcare, housing, food security, and other community care endeavors. Communities are safer with better resources; public safety should include a greater investment in infrastructure that addresses the root causes of crime, instead of preying on the most marginalized.
