Oppose Immoral Budget Cuts
Congress recently passed the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025 (H.R. 1968), funding the government until September 30, 2025. While the bill avoids a shutdown, it redirects funding priorities that disproportionately harm marginalized communities. Specifically, the bill eliminates more than $15 billion in community projects, cutting funding for local infrastructure, education, and housing. The expected $880 billion cut to Medicaid over the next decade is incredibly damaging, jeopardizing healthcare access for millions of low-income families, seniors, and people with disabilities.
The bill also significantly prioritizes defense spending, increasing the military budget by nearly $900 billion. This shift away from essential social services deepens disparities in already underserved communities as programs related to housing, environmental protection, and public services continue to suffer.
