Like so many, we are mourning the loss of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a once-in-a-lifetime champion for equality and an inspiration to millions. We must act to honor her legacy - because we've already seen the possibility of a radical abortion opponent nominated to the Supreme Court. The threat to reproductive freedom—and to voting rights, LGBTQ rights, health care, racial justice, immigrant justice, environmental justice, and the integrity of our democracy—is real, and our rights hang in the balance. We must take action now in Massachusetts to improve access to abortion in our state - because we can't rely on the Supreme Court to protect reproductive freedom.

Faced with such grave uncertainty about the future of the Supreme Court, Massachusetts must lead.

We must not only affirm the right to safe, legal abortion care, but also ensure that everyone in Massachusetts access to the reproductive health care they need, no matter their income, insurance, age, or immigration status. Abortion must be free from politically motivated obstacles grounded in stigma and shame because a right on paper without access to care is meaningless to someone who can't get the care they need.

We are calling on the state legislature to protect and expand abortion access in Massachusetts by passing the ROE Act. The time to act is now.
