Pennsylvanians For a People's Budget
The Pennsylvania Budget is a moral document between the government and its citizens. It makes a statement about what Pennsylvanians think is important. The current draft of the budget suggests that we won't protect the neither environment nor the vulnerable, and that we can be bought by big corporations.
The PA Assembly is not offering us a fair deal and we need to tell them so. Please send your legislators a letter explaining why they shouldn't vote for the budget in its current form. We have a ready to send email for you, but if you need more information or would like to write your own please read below.
Support a Budget that puts People and Planet First: While the Senate finally agreed to a severance tax on Marcellus Shale, the tax comes with a hefty price to the planet. The proposed tax would in essence, allow gas companies to regulate themselves and to pass the costs of the new tax onto the consumer. This is a bad deal for Pennsylvanians. Call your state reps and tell them that you will only support a budget that makes natural gas companies, corporations, and the wealthiest Pennsylvanians pay their Fair Share. A bill our legislators can SUPPORT to create recurring revenue for PA is SB 555 The Fair Share Tax.
