PHRA EMERGENCY ACTION ALERT

PHRA EMERGENCY ACTION ALERT

DEADLINE: TOMORROW, FRIDAY JAN 28 1 PM EASTERN

Rep. Susan Wild is introducing an amendment to the America Competes Act that uses identical language to the PHRA. The Competes Act is a “big countering China” spending bill that is set to enter the House next week. Rep Wild’s amendment says no funds authorized by the bill may be used to support Philippine security forces until basic human rights standards are met.

Getting this amendment in the bill, which will go before the House next week, could bring unprecedented attention to our demands to suspend military aid to the Philippines. In order for this amendment to survive, we need to get PHRA sponsors to support the amendment.

If your rep co-sponsored the PHRA, contact them and ask them to co-sponsor the amendment. To support, your rep can contact Rep. Wild’s office directly by emailing Yann.Schinazi@mail.house.gov.
