For the past four years, the Lafayette Parish Council has appointed library board members who are not only blatantly partisan, but ruthlessly agenda-driven. They have systematically cut library programs, attempted to ban books, banned library displays of cultural and heritage identities, destroyed employee morale, delayed the construction of the new NE Library, and illegally fired the director. Instead of bringing the community together, this board has worked tirelessly to divide and destroy this precious community asset. We are writing to demand that the Parish Council take the upcoming appointments as an opportunity to reset and take partisan politics out of our public library!
