Prevent a Massive Tree Cutting in East Gresham!

The Shaull property, almost 8 acres bordering a crucial wetland, with hundreds of mature trees, in Gresham is essential.

This land is essential for wildlife habitat, providing one of the last remaining wild spaces in the Metro area, and bordering crucial land for turtles and migratory birds. This land is essential to the climate, and is constantly storing and removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. This land is essential to the neighbors and residents of East Portland and Gresham, being one of the few last enclaves of nature in a world filled with concrete. This land is essential to providing clean air and water and keeping the area cool.

Yet SGS Devolepment LLC wants to log, clearcut, and cut down these essential woods, and replace them with roads and tightly packed houses. And the City of Gresham, Metro, and the East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District are going to let them.

We cannot let this happen! We cannot allow this damage to our future, to the animals that depend on these trees, to the neighbors of this property happen.  We cannot continue the violence of environmental racism by only putting nature in whiter and wealthier areas. When each day, the time we have left to live in a habitable world diminishes, we must not cut down more trees and put more carbon into the atmosphere.

Tell Gresham, Metro, and the East Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District to buy this property now!
