Protect DC's Social Safety Net

As the the next budget cycle comes to a close, we need your help to protect funding for critical programs that District families rely on. The Council was thankfully able to restore funding to the Access to Justice program that provides civil legal services. However, the current proposed budget still falls woefully short of meeting the needs of our client community: it fails to adequately fund Emergency Rental Assistance and housing vouchers and it fails to make permanent temporary increases to the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program that our clients rely upon to feed their families.

This budget season cannot wind down with vital safety net programs in such deep need. We are asking you to contact the Council and reiterate these priorities ahead of the second vote on June 12th. Together, we must help them to understand that their job is not done, and they need to find the dollars to meet the needs of low-income DC residents.

If you’re a District resident, enter your address to get started and take one minute to email the Council and ask them to protect low-income District families. Thank you!
