Protect Frontline Communities Near Chemical Plants and Refineries from Toxic Exposure

Support HB 1927 to Create a Toxic Chemical Emergency Alert System

Living or working near a refinery or chemical plant means constant risk from exposure to toxic chemicals. These communities rely on sirens to let them know when a facility has released dangerous chemicals, but a siren doesn’t convey the detailed information people need to protect themselves and their families.

House Bill 1927 by Texas Representative Eddie Rodriguez would create the Toxic Chemical Emergency Alert System to send alerts to people’s phones when a toxic release occurs. Instead of guessing what the level of danger is, people will get clear information about the chemicals released, what direction they are moving and what people should do.
