Action Alert: Urge Your Representative to Cosponsor the Historic Preservation Fund Reauthorizaton Act

Take action to reauthorize and increase the Historic Preservation Fund!

Urge your Representative to co-sponsor the Historic Preservation Fund Reauthorization Act (H.R. 3350)! Introduced by Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH),  Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), Rep. Mike Carey (R-OH), and Rep. Teresa Leger-Fernandez (D-NM), this important and straightforward bill would:

  • Reauthorize the HPF for 10 years
  • Increases authorization from $150 million to $250 million annually
Since 1976, the Historic Preservation Fund has helped to recognize, save, revitalize, and protect America's historic places. For more than 40 years, the HPF has empowered states and local entities to preserve the buildings and sites that tell their community's stories.

HPF funding also supports critically important competitive grant programs. The Paul Bruhn Historic Revitalization Grant Program is helping to foster economic development in rural communities through the rehabilitation of historic buildings in those communities. While programs like the African American Civil Rights Grant Program, the History of Equal Rights grant program, the Underrepresented Communities Grant Program, and others are helping to tell a more diverse and inclusive American story.

Reauthorization is imperative to the ongoing success of the HPF program.

With the HPF's current authorization set to expire on September 30, 2023, passage is critical. Additionally the HPF's authorization has not been increased since the program's inception in 1976 and is long overdue. This bill would provide much needed certainty to the states, tribes, and local communities that rely on this federal funding to carry out their critical preservation work.

Urge your U.S Representative to support and co-sponsor the Historic Preservation Reauthorization Fund Act (H.R. 3350) TODAY!
