Reject A Consumption-Based Tax Shift

Kentucky's politicians face a choice. They can choose special interest tax breaks, or the investments in education, health, roads, and more that make our communities vibrant and strong.

Tell your State Representative that you want a tax code that asks the wealthy and corporations to contribute towards these investments like the rest of us do.

Shifting away from income taxes and relying more heavily on sales taxes -- a "consumption-based tax code" -- would be a big tax break to those at the top and a tax hike for the rest of us.

When we ask less of those with more --who are taking home all the growth in today's economy -- we have less to invest in the things that matter to our communities -- schools, child protection, healthcare, public safety and infrastructure and so much more. Relying more heavily on sales taxes, which fall on cash-strapped households focused on making ends meet, leaves us with less for these investments.

Tell your State Representative that you want them to vote no on any tax package that includes a consumption-based tax shift, and ask your friends to talk to their representatives.
