Release Asha and the Caldera Pack!

Asha the wandering wolf has unfortunately been captured and transferred to captivity, but you can still raise your voice to speak up for her and her new pack, the Caldera Pack!

Asha (#2754) is a young female Mexican gray wolf, or lobo, who has twice journeyed into northern New Mexico. Asha had been roaming without incident in the Jemez Mountains north of Interstate 40, but because she was outside of the boundaries of the Mexican Wolf Experimental Population Area (MWEPA), government officials decided to trap her and take her into captivity again.

Asha is now housed with two young male lobos, Arcadia (#1966) and Horizon (#1968). These wolves were named by school children who care passionately about the future of lobos. We are calling on the US Fish and Wildlife Service to name this new pack the Caldera Pack, in honor of the Valles Caldera National Preserve where Asha spent some of her peaceful journey. We need your help to ask for the immediate release of this new wolf family!

Asha seems to have successfully paired with Arcadia and the whole family, including Horizon, should be released ASAP, as should all the captive-born, wild-ready wolves in their family groups.

Send an email to US Fish and Wildlife Service calling for the immediate release of the whole Caldera Pack. Please personalize the sample email to show why Asha, Horizon, and Arcadia should have a chance to experience freedom together as a family. As always, please be respectful, and thank you for being a voice for lobos!
