Legislative Call to Action

As we’ve communicated in recent newsletters, the leaders of RIPERC affiliates are pushing for passage of several measures which would improve the financial circumstances for retired public employees. Among the three proposals that constitute H 7993 and S2580, our priority is to add a one-time 2% COLA to our already scheduled Fractional COLA for 2025. This additional COLA would compensate for the missed Fractional COLAs in 2022 and 2023 following our first attempt at passage of the Fractional COLA in 2021.

While testimony which we will provide to the House and Senate Finance Committees is important, contact by constituents to their legislators has the most effective impact. To that end, we are asking the members of all RIPEC affiliates to join efforts to pass this additional COLA. Included below is a link that will provide a letter to your respective legislators. All that is needed is your address and name. You may add your own comments if you wish. This campaign can only be successful with your effort, so please take just a moment of your time to engage in collective activism for our collective benefit.
