San Jose Budget Advocacy Letter

For the third year in a row, the City proposes cutting Measure E dollars intended for affordable housing production and shifting them to temporary shelters. The proposed budget redirects over $25 million in Measure E funds from permanent affordable housing to operating interim shelters. We need this council to commit to restoring this money.

This critical funding is desperately needed in our communities, and we must work together to ensure a comprehensive and responsible approach to our housing and homelessness crisis.
