Save the Cynfal

Oni bai ein bod yn gweithredu’n gyflym bydd un o raeadrau mwyaf eiconig
Eryri yn cael ei difrodi am byth.

Y newyddion brawychus yw bod datblygwyr wedi cyflwyno cais cynllunio i adeiladu argae ar

Afon Cynfal ger Llan Ffestiniog a dargyfeirio cymaint â 70% o’r dŵr sydd ar gael o amgylch
rhaeadr eiconig Rhaeadr y Cwm, fel rhan o gynllun trydan dŵr.
Dair gwaith dros y deng mlynedd ar hugain diwethaf mae cynlluniau wedi eu cyflwyno ar
gyfer cynllun trydan dŵr yng Nghwm Cynfal. Dair gwaith maent naill ai wedi cael eu gwrthod
neu eu tynnu'n ôl. Ond ym mis Gorffennaf fe gyflwynodd y datblygwyr gais arall. Y dyddiad
cau ar gyfer gwrthwynebiadau yw 20 Medi.

Unless we act quickly one of Eryri’s most iconic waterfalls, and wildlife sites, will be damaged forever. Use the form on the right to submit an objection.

The alarming news is that developers have submitted a planning application to build a dam on the Afon Cynfal and Llan Ffestiniog and divert as much as 70% of the available water around the iconic waterfall of Rhaeadr y Cwm, as part of a hydro-electric scheme.

Three times over the past thirty years plans have been submitted for a hydro-electric scheme in Cwm Cynfal. Three times they have been either refused or withdrawn. But in July the developers formally submitted another application. The deadline for objections is 20 September.

Save Our Rivers, Snowdonia Society, Buglife and the North Wales Wildlife Trust have partenered to discuss and create an objection to the planning application which can be submitted using this tool, or by email to cynllunio@eryri.llyw.cymru
