Say No! To Austerity Budgets!

UPDATE: Thanks to your activism, the mayor did allocate the additional money for the school budget for next year! The school committee is giving us a fair wage increase for the first year of our contract. This is a big win! However, there is still more work to be done to secure the wage increase that our public school workers deserve in years two and three of our contract. Please stand with the employees of Northampton Public Schools and ask our elected officials to make a commitment to settle a contract that reflects the importance of education in our community.

The next school committee meeting is next Thursday, June 9, and we need to focus our efforts to encourage the School Committee to negotiate a fair contract for all three years.

Note: While elected officials cannot commit to specific bargaining proposals, they can speak in general terms and make general commitments to Northampton’s educators. Ask that they do everything in their power to settle a FAIR CONTRACT NOW!
