Say NO to Flag Burning

The word "Say NO to flag burning. Vote NO on item H-7" appear over a grungy red background. An image of a pride flag being burned appears to the right.

The Miami-Dade School Board has proposed item H-7, which would ban any flag deemed "controversial" on school campuses. We know what that really means: in another unnecessary attack on queer visibility, pride flags would be wiped from our schools.

Markers of visibility like pride flags show students that their classrooms are safe spaces for them to learn. H-7 silences students, parents, and teachers and enforces the same bigotry we have seen from the Miami-Dade School Board again and again.

For every letter sent with this tool, PRISM will mail one pride flag to each school board member.

Make your voice heard so MDCPS knows that this item is out of step with the people of Miami.

In addition, we need to mobilize people to show up to speak at the meeting itself (December 14th, around 3:30 PM). You can find the speaker request form here. The form needs to be filled out and emailed to request4appearance@dadeschools.net no later than Monday, December 12th at 4:30 PM. Those who do not submit their form on time can also sign up in person with the clerk on the day of the meeting.
