Despite the original intentions of the body who manages the scholarship fund, very few descendants have received any of the promised monies. Furthermore, the bill currently includes unrealistic expectations and criteria that unfairly disqualify many descendants for minor reasons.

We have until April 11th to encourage Oklahoma State Senator Adam Pugh to give HB1626 a hearing.

HB1626 makes the following amendments to the trust:

• Gives descendants priority consideration
• Makes descendants living throughout Oklahoma eligible.
• Increases household income level eligibility
• Removes the Oklahoma Historical Society as the sole descendant verifier
• Adds a Community Advisory Committee
