Gov Brown wants to take away your voice, send a letter now

California’s legislature is considering a proposal by Governor Brown that would take away the ability for local communities to have a voice in shaping and improving residential real estate developments. The Governor is demanding approval of the proposal as a condition for releasing funds for affordable housing – essentially holding hostage needed funding for affordable housing.

A broad network of community, labor, and housing groups have written a letter to oppose the so-called ‘by right’ development proposal and to protest the Governor’s move. Read the letter drafted by the coalition.

To add your voice to defend the right of communities to require real estate developers to protect tenants, jobs, small businesses, and the environment, complete the form to the right and click “START WRITING”.  A sample letter will pop up that you can edit and send via email.
