Casitas support senior citizens, young families & everyone in between

Casitas can also allow seniors to age in place, give economical housing options to young families and individuals, and let people of all ages live modestly if they want or need. One statewide ADU study found that nearly 20% of casitas are occupied by people over 55, approximately 25% are used by people ages 35 to 55, and half are used by people under 35.

Casitas are popular with Arizona voters

In a poll fielded by the trusted pollster YouGov last spring, 74% of the Arizona voters polled support allowing homeowners to build and rent out casitas on their property, compared to only 18% who oppose.

Casitas are a proven workforce housing strategy and have shown the potential to massively expand the availability of lower cost housing while fitting seamlessly into residential neighborhoods and reducing displacement pressures in at-risk communities.
