St Paul Bicycle Budget Call To Action

Dear Community Members,

Six months after the death of bicyclist Alan Grahn, we are still working hard to make Summit Avenue and all streets in St. Paul safer for bicyclists and pedestrians.

At the Safety on Summit community town hall in June, we heard stories and received feedback on what needs to be improved both on Summit Avenue and on all St. Paul streets. Some of these included: slowing down speed limits, adding pedestrian and bicycle lighting at intersections, installing buffers between traffic and bicycle lanes, making sure lanes are clear and safe to use, and so much more.

We have been hard at work these past several months learning about how to accomplish these important asks. One of the biggest road blocks (no pun intended) on achieving safer bicycle infrastructure in St. Paul is the budget. Mayor Carter has proposed a $500,000 budget line just for new and improved bicycle infrastructure in the city. It’s very possible that this budget line could be cut by the St. Paul City Council as they review the mayor’s budget.

Please fill out the information to the right and click Start Writing to send an email to the St. Paul City Council and demand that they keep bicycling improvements in the St. Paul 2019 Budget.

We thank you again for your support and for fighting alongside us to help make our city safer for all.
