We at People Power Washington are keenly aware of how critical police union contracts are in determining whether or not we move towards more accountability and true public safety in our region. The newly negotiated Seattle Police Management Association (SPMA) contract has recently been released to the public and will be voted on at the Seattle City Council Meeting on Tuesday, June 7. There are several troubling aspects of this new contract pertaining to accountability. Now is the time, as the Seattle City Council prepares to vote on the contract, for us to advocate for a better contract.
