Standing for Our Sisters, Standing for Justice

As the Biden Administration comes to a close, we are asking Black women and our allies to stand with us as we demand clemency for prisoners denied justice because of a systemic issue: outdated sentencing that has a disproportionate impact on Black people, Black Women formerly elected leaders targeted by conservatives for their progressive advocacy, nonviolent drug offenses, prisoners who should have had their sentences reduced or eliminated with passage of the 2018 First Step Act because of disparities in crack/powder cocaine sentencing, but did not get relief because some provisions of the law were not made retroactive; and compassionate release due to age.
