Stop State-Sponsored Political & Ethnic Violence in Turkey and Protect the Democratic Process

In recent weeks the provisional Justice and Development Party (AKP) government of Turkey has attacked Kurdish targets in the region and undertaken a campaign of violence against its own pro-democracy and Kurdish citizens. The government hopes to increase its votes in the upcoming snap elections of November 1st, 2015 by pandering to the nationalist sentiments of its constituents in order to grant the Erdogan Presidency increased and more authoritarian powers . In the process, the AKP has caused the killing of hundreds of innocent souls, Kurdish guerrillas and members of security forces in addition to inciting mob violence against minorities, opposition parties and the media. Ask members of the Senate to do anything in their power to stop the Turkish government's violent tactics, guarantee that elections are held in an  atmosphere of peace, and ensure that recent attacks against Kurds do not jeopardize international efforts against ISIL.
