Cancel the Foggy Bottom Evictions

DC Government, the National Parks Service, and US Park Police will be evicting homeless encampments in Foggy Bottom on May 15th. It is well-documented that repeated encampment evictions only serve to displace people; resulting in decreased stability, eroded connections with service providers and support, and the destruction of basic survival supplies– all of which are conditions that exacerbate homelessness. Not to mention, these policies of displacement and criminalization are expensive, diverting critical funds away from actual solutions to homelessness such as housing and other social services. Many of the residents of the Foggy Bottom encampments scheduled for eviction have experienced numerous traumatic evictions in the past, a number of them moving to these parks following the devastating eviction of McPherson Square last year. Tell DC Government, NPS, and USPP to STOP THE SWEEPS!
