Stopping violence against caregivers

Renetta's patient beat her so badly she can no longer work.  Eric's client punched him in the eye, fracturing his orbital bone.   Brandy's patient nearly choked her to death.

Renatta and Brandy are health care workers, Eric is a counselor - one of tens of thousand who were assaulted while working as caregivers.  Each year, 450 workers die and over 20,000 suffer serious injuries from workplace violence each year.   Health care and social service workers are five times as likely to suffer a serious assault injury on the job as other workers.

Most often, the assault could have been prevented had the employer enacted basic safety measures.

Ask your Representative to support the The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act (H.R. 1309).

Because no one should have to sacrifice their safety and well being to care for others and earn a living.
