Students Need Statewide Gating Criteria
The Wisconsin Education Association Council is calling on the state Department of Health Services to impose gating requirements for schools to use in making decisions about whether to hold classes virtually or in-person.

Three months into the school year, it’s clear that school districts need consistent criteria applied evenly across the state, instead of district-by-district decisions that are increasingly inconsistent and unsafe. The spread of COVID is rampant and there are many examples of school districts that do not have any gating criteria in place or have changed the criteria after hitting thresholds to move to virtual instruction.
