US Wind COP DEIS – Support Alternative B (Proposed Action)
In 2021, President Biden established a new national goal of deploying 30 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind by 2030, and in March 2023, Maryland’s Governor Wes Moore established a new state goal of deploying 8.5 GW of offshore wind by 2031. These national and state goals recognize the importance of getting clean energy like offshore wind up and running as quickly as possible to combat global climate change, create good-paying jobs, and establish a domestic supply chain for generations to come.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) conducted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (“DEIS”) for US Wind’s Construction and Operations Plan (“COP”), including Alternative B (Proposed Action) that would allow for the construction of up to 2.2 GW of offshore wind energy in US Wind’s lease area off the coast of Maryland. Alternative B would be an important investment in Maryland's wind infrastructure that would help us meet our national and local offshore wind goals.
Write a letter to Ms. Jessica Stromberg encouraging her to support Alternative B.
